Gender Based Violence and BME Women, Children & Young People Training

Awareness-raising training (2 days) for any practitioner or interested individual. Training includes:

  • Definitions of domestic abuse
  • How domestic abuse affects women and families from BME communities
  • How domestic abuse affects BME children and young people
  • The concept of ‘honour’ and how it affects BME women experiencing domestic abuse
  • Forced marriage
  • Immigration issues including entitlement to support
  • Structures and policy
  • What is Female Genital Mutilation
  • Identifying warning signs
  • Criminal legislation on FGM in Scotland

 

We have now added a half day input on Female Genital Mutilation facilitated by Fatou Baldeh, who has worked alongside DARF (Dignity Alert & Research Forum) campaigning and raising awareness of FGM issues in Scotland.
